Exploring Quebec City: History, Food, and Waterfall Adventures Our recent trip to Quebec City, Canada was extra special—it was Surae’s last big adventure before starting college at the University of South Carolina. We couldn’t have chosen a better destination for such a milestone trip. We stayed just steps away from the historic Place d’Armes at the Hotel Jardin du Gouveneur, the perfect location for exploring this beautifully walkable city. Wandering Through Historic Streets Quebec City is pure charm. We spent hours wandering cobblestone streets, browsing shops, and admiring the stunning architecture. Many buildings were draped in cascading flowers, creating a living tapestry of color at every turn. One highlight was a free walking tour, where we learned about the city’s rich history before ending in Place Royale, the heart of the Quartier Petit Champlain. This area is full of unique boutiques, artisan shops, and cozy cafes—perfect for strolling and soaking in the atmosphere. An Incredible Food Scene The Quebec City food scene is every foodie’s dream, and we tried some unforgettable spots: Le Cendrillon – We shared their Discovery Menu: 11 dishes for just $80 for two people. Every plate was inventive and delicious—we expected a few misses, but we devoured every bite. Le Hobbit – Recently recognized in the Quebec Michelin Guide, this spot delivers gourmet creativity at a reasonable price. The seared duck was the star of the night. Restaurant La Bûche – Despite looking like a touristy pick, the rave reviews were spot on. Their mushroom and cheese omelette was one of the best I’ve ever had. Montmorency Falls: A Thrilling Surprise Just a short drive from the city, Montmorency Falls towers taller than Niagara. The scale of the park is breathtaking, with scenic trails, suspension bridges, and endless views. The biggest surprise? Surae braved the zipline across the massive falls—an amazing accomplishment for someone afraid of heights! She loved it, and it was a highlight of the trip. If you visit, bring your walking shoes—doing the full loop involves plenty of stairs, but the views and experiences are worth every step. Wishing for More Time As our trip came to an end, both of us wished for more time in this beautiful, friendly city. With its walkable streets, welcoming locals, creative cuisine, and breathtaking scenery, Quebec City was the perfect send-off for Surae before her college journey begins. This was my first trip to Canada, but it certainly won’t be my last.
